Catholic Citizenship Essay
Virtue is a habitual and firm disposition to do good. It governs our acts, orders our passions, and guides our conduct by reason and faith. The call to live a virtuous life applies to individuals in every state of life and occupation, including our elected leaders.
The goal of this program is to involve young Catholics in civic discourse and instill in them religious and life-affirming values. In an essay of 500-750 words, what are the two most important virtues for an elected leader to possess, and why? How can you determine if the leader has these virtues? Winning essays will be judged on grammar, style, and clarity.
The 1st place winner, as judged by or council, will be awarded 100 dollars. There will be two 2nd place awards of 50 dollars as well. Winner will advance to the regional level.
Entry Forms with Parent Consent along with written essay must be submitted electronically by December 1st, 2024 to Grand Knight or mailed to our correspondence address listed on the Home page.
